In Central Asia a new era of researching of the Earth’s moving began with creation new observatory Kitob International Latitude Station named after Mirzo Ulughbek.
Only Kitab city is situated on the International parallel (39 degree 08 minute). That’s why there had came to a conclusion to build International Latitude Station in Kitab district. In September of 1928 a Bamberg Zenith Telescope and a Short Clock were brought from Germany. And on the 14th of November, 1930 the first observation began and observation is continuing till nowadays. Observation had not been stopped even during the second world war. In these years here was found a new little planet which was named “Uzbekistan”. In 2009 Bahodir Hafizov and Aleksey Sergeev found a new little planet at the Maydanak observatory. With the offer of our president this planet was named “Samarkand”.
